Federico and I met during the Austral summer of 2007-2008 in Valparaiso, Chile. He happened to be staying at the youth hostel that I own there. I had recently shot a few films in LA during a workshop at the New York Film Academy (including The Luxury of Mobility and The Muslims‘ music video for Extinction↓) and was planning on shooting a short film and a documentary in Chile before going back to LA.
Federico was just making a name for himself as a director at a new production company in Argentina called Pank Films. At some point during a long night of drinking, Federico offered to help me produce these projects if I came to Buenos Aires. ‘Where Are You Going?’ (featured above) and the documentary ‘Hincha’ (trailer featured below ↓) were the result.
Earlier this year I began working with Federico on commercials at Pank, and he has picked up momentum as a director. Recently he won the Lapiz de Oro award in Advertising for co-directing the following commercial ↓
Since then, we’ve been hustling commercials like crazy, and trying to find time for our own projects on the side. Sometimes we make stuff with our point-and-shoot digital cameras. For example, I made these videos:
And Federico took these pictures:
